Frequently Asked Questions

What are your prices?

Price guidelines are explained in the "Prices and flavours" section.

Do you deliver?

I deliver wedding cakes to many venues in the local area around Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas. I choose not to deliver celebration cakes at the current time unless delivery is to a recognised venue. .

Do you only work at the Compleat Angler Hotel?

Not exclusively, no. I am a preferred supplier to the Comleat Angler but I can make cakes for any event or party, regardless of the venue.

Do you cater for allergies?

Most of the cakes I make can be made to accommodate allergies, intolerances or preferences but it is worth noting that all allergens are used on site in the kitchen area.

Does it have to be a fruit cake?

Definitely not! Although I do love a fruit cake at Christmas, I rarely get asked to make a fruit cake for weddings these days. A full list of flavours can be found in the "design your cake" section.

Can the tiers be different flavours?

Absolutely! Even with tall, pillar style cakes you can put a board in between the layers to provide different flavours for your guests, and still have it look like one single tall cake. For a list of flavours see "Prices and flavours"

Are the flowers edible?

Not usually. Edible flowers can be supplied on request but any flowers from a florist should not come into direct contact with a cake. Flowers must be sealed and made cake safe before they go anywhere near a cake.

Can we have a dummy tier?

Yes. dummy tiers are fake cakes made from polystyrene, but decorated to look like a real cake. they can add height and another layer of design without having too much real cake to eat.

Is a dummy tier cheaper?

Not really. you may save some money on a larger tier being a dummy, instead of a luxury flavour but the majority of the cost is in the decorating details and not the cake itself.

Why is a wedding cake more expensive than a celebration cake?

There are usually more details to consider in a wedding cake. The cakes are often much bigger, the design is usually a lot more elaborate, there is always a longer design consultation period, the design often changes as plans evolve.

I only take one tiered wedding cake in a week so I can focus only on that couple and their special day. There is a lot more time involved liaising with florists, wedding coordinators, venues. Travel and delivery have to be included. Some designs can cost £200+ in ingredients and specialist equipment alone, before I even turn the oven on.

How much notice do you need?

I usually recommend a minimum of 6 months, up to a year in peak summer months. For quieter, out of season months at least 3 months is preferable but occasionally I have a clear spot in my diary or something gets canceled, so it's always worth an ask!

How do I book in a cake?

Simply send me a quick message to check my availability and we can go from there.

I ask for a minimum £40 to secure a booking in my diary, or 50% of the total cost for larger cakes. Get in touch HERE!

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. this can be arranged on an individual basis, and subject to agreements from both parties.

Do you have Terms and conditions?

Absolutely. Click HERE for a full list of my T's & C's
